Song of Solomon

Song of Solomon

Wow, today we read a whole book, but it’s only 117 verses found in eight chapters. Song of Solomon, which could also be interpreted Song for Solomon, is thought by many to be an allegory of God’s love for the children of Israel. It may also be an allegory of Christ’s love for the church. On the surface, it is about the relationship of a man and woman, a very intimate relationship. The young woman speaks and the young man speaks, both very eloquently and descriptively about each other. Considering how many wives and concubines Solomon had (over 700 if I remember correctly), one must wonder if the young man mentioned is Solomon and, if so, how this young woman was different from all of his other women.

Tomorrow, it’s Proverbs 1 - 3.
