Gang Mills Cooks

Today, I got so much done. I have been working on cookbooks in what I call the Gang Mills Cooks series. To date, I am nearly done with the following: Biscuits & Muffins, Bread & Donuts, Cakes, Candy, Casseroles, and Cookies. In the works are Loose Ground Beef Meals; Main Dishes; Pickles, Relishes and Sauces; Pies and Pastries; and Salads and Sides.

I plan on putting the pictures of the cooks whose recipes I’m publishing. Does anyone have a picture of my fourth-grade teacher, Frances Mary Brooks Tompkins? I didn’t think so.

I should be getting my last picture I need in the next few days.

  Your hospital Medicare admittance has just changed under Obama Care.  You must be admitted by your primary Physician in order for Medicare to pay for it! If you are admitted by an emergency room doctor it is treated as outpatient care where hospital costs are not covered. This is only the tip of the iceberg for Obama Care. Just wait  to see what happens in 2013 & 2014!

  Today, I went to the Doctor for my monthly B12 shot that I have been getting for a number of years. The nurse came and got me, got out the needle filled and ready to go then looked at the computer and got very quiet and asked if I was prepared to pay for it. I said no that  my insurance takes care of it.

  She said that Medicare had turned it down and went to talk to my Dr. about it. 15 minutes later she came back and said, she was sorry but they had tried every thing they could but Medicare is beginning to turn many things down for seniors because of the projected Obama Care coming in. She was brushing at tears and said, "Some day they too will  get old", I am so very sorry!!

  Please for the sake of many good people… be informed please.

1. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

2. Nothing is more distressing than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Today

Not much going on here today.  I had a coupon for Outback for a buy one lunch entrée and get one free. Karen and I enjoyed a great lunch. We both had French Onion Soup and a Half Filet Focaccia sandwich. Most delicious.

I spent the rest of the day working on some Internet stuff. Tomorrow, I have to go down to the bank in Brandon and I guess I’ll go to the movies so I don’t waste a trip for just one thing.

It was beautiful here today, but it’s been quite cold at night. It was 57 degrees in my house this morning, but I braved the shower anyway.

Testing Complete

Today, I finished testing the last recipe for my cookie cookbook. The recipe was a little strange: it had 4 cups of flour, but the only liquid was 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons of milk. The reason it worked is that it called for 1 cups of melted shortening. The batter was still very dry, almost crumbling, but the cookies turned great as you can see by the following picture:

Don’t they look good? I ate a couple but will give away the rest.

I tested 20 cookie recipes and each one was delicious. I liked some better than other, but my all-time favorite is my Mom’s recipe for Pumpkin Cookies. Right up there with that is my Aunt Ruth’s Sugar Cookies.

I hope it doesn’t take me too long to get the book ready for publishing on Kindle. I think I’ll also have a website where people can get a .pdf file of the book.

Well, time to take a break – maybe even a nap – since I didn’t go to sleep until about 4:30 this morning and got up and 7:30. This old gal is dragging, but I still managed to make the cookies and a big pot of chili – what a great meal for a cold night.

Thomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped.

At 5, began studying under his cousin's tutor.
At 9, studied Latin, Greek and French.
At 14, studied classical literature and additional languages.
At 16, entered the College of William and Mary.
At 19, studied Law for 5 years starting under George Wythe.
At 23, started his own law practice.
At 25, was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses.
At 31, wrote the widely circulated "Summary View of the Rights of British Americaâ and retired from his law practice.
At 32, was a Delegate to the Second Continental Congress.
At 33, wrote the Declaration of Independence.
At 33, took three years to revise Virginia's legal code and wrote a Public Education bill and a statute for Religious Freedom.
At 36, was elected the second Governor of Virginia succeeding Patrick Henry.
At 40, served in Congress for two years.
At 41, was the American minister to France and negotiated commercial treaties with European nations along with Ben Franklin and John Adams.
At 46, served as the first Secretary of State under George Washington.
At 53, served as Vice President and was elected president of the American Philosophical Society.
At 55, drafted the Kentucky Resolutions and became the active
head of Republican Party.
At 57, was elected the third president of the United States.
At 60, obtained the Louisiana Purchase doubling the nation's size.

Thomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied the previous failed attempts at government. He understood actual history, the nature of God, his laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand today. Jefferson really knew his stuff. A voice from the past to lead us in the future:
