Matthew 8: 1 – 13 and Luke 7 and Animusic

Matthew 8: 1 – 13 and Luke 7

What faith the Roman officer had!. He understood authority and he believed in Jesus, in his power and authority to heal his servant. The officer is a compassionate man. He came to Jesus on behalf of his servant. Being non-Jewish, I’m glad Jesus talked about “many Gentiles” coming from all over the world – from east and west – sitting down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus contrasts these Gentiles with “many Israelites” described as “those thrown into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Don’t you love the story of Jesus raising the widow’s son, especially the words “When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion.” Can’t you just see him telling her gently not to cry. Note that Jesus didn’t even touch the boy, just the coffin. When the dead boy sat up and began to talk, the crowd became very afraid, but they praised God. Can’t you see people passing the news of what happened?

It looks as if John the Baptist was seek assurance that Jesus was the Christ. I love how Jesus answered to tell John what they have seen and heard—the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.” A succinct description of the ministry of Jesus.

Tomorrow, we’ll read Matthew 11.

Late Post

Sorry to be so late posting this, but I went to Largo and picked up Vivienne, stopped and picked up my cousin Richard, went to Orlando/Sanford Airport to pick up my mother’s dear friend (and mine) Irene Miller, dropped Richard back home, continued on to Largo and dropped off Vivienne and Irene and then came back home.

Until next time…
