Psalm 106 – 107 and Safe

Psalm 106 - 107

Both Psalm 106 and 107 begin with almost the same words: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 106 appears to have been written by someone who was not an Israelite. In verses 4-5, the author says, “Remember me, Lord, when you show favor to your people; come near and rescue me. Let me share in the prosperity of your chosen ones. Let me rejoice in the joy of your people; let me praise you with those who are your heritage.” The author also talks about “our ancestors in Egypt” who were “not impressed by the Lord’s miraculous deeds.”

This person certainly could recite the Lord’s “glorious miracles” with the best of them, as well as the many times the people failed to obey and sought other gods. Verse 47 talks about gathering them back from among the nations, so they can thank His holy name and rejoice and praise Him. This would lead me to believe that this Psalm might have been written after God scattered His people.

Psalm 107 begins book five of the Psalms and calls for those whom the Lord has redeemed to give thanks. Four times he uses the following words: “Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them.” These words are the theme of this Psalm. As in the previous Psalm, the author reviews the many ways the people have failed the Lord and the way He turned back to them and rescued them when they cried out to Him.

Tomorrow, it’s II Samuel 5:11 – 6:23 and I Chronicles 13-16

Safe

Today, I went to see the movie Safe starring Jason Statham. It was an action-packed movie with lots of car chases and some very touching scenes. Some action/adventure moves don’t have much of a plot, but this was an intriguing story that continually unveiled the character of the players. See it if you get a chance, unless you don’[t like graphic violence.

Leather Class

This afternoon, I attended the first half of a great class at Tandy Leather on making a purse. We had to cut out the parts according to the dimensions given to us. We punched some holes, though we have more to punch before we put it together. We also dyed the parts. Next week we will finish it.

Until next time…
