Ezekiel 9 – 12 and The Same Look

Ezekiel 9 – 12

Ezekiel heard the Lord call for men appointed to punish the city of Jerusalem. A man dressed in linen acoompanied them and was instructed to go through the city and mark the forehead of those wept and sighed because of the sins being committed in the city. The six were to follow him and use their special “deadly weapons” to kill those without the mark. Some believe this man in linen clothing is Christ.

Ezekiel also mentions the four living beings he described in the first chapter. The glory of the Lord hovered above them and went up from the city and stopped above the mountain to the east. The Spirit then carries Ezekiel back to Babylon from the vision of his visit to Jerusalem.

The Lord gives Ezekiel another object lesson for the peoplel showing them they will be carried into exile. He tells him “even Zedekiah will leave Jerusalem at night through a hole in the wall, taking only what he can carry with him. The Lord also gives Ezekiel a new proverb: “The time has come for every prophecy to be fulfilled.” Thus, the Lord will fulfill his threat of destruction in Ezekiel’s own lifetime.

Tomorrow, we’ll be reading Ezekiel 13 – 15.

The Same Look

This is exactly the same look you get from your

friends when you tell them you plan to vote for Obama.
