Jeremiah 49 – 50 and Sanford

Jeremiah 49 – 50

In today’[s reading, Jeremiah continues his messages to other nations. The Ammonites and their god Molech “will be hauled off to distant lands.” The Edomites are told to hide in deep caves because the Lord will be punishing them.

Damascus is told of its destruction. Kedar and Hazor as well as Elam are also warned of destructon. Then the Lord turns his attention to Babylon and the land of the Babylonians. “Babylon will fail.” “Her gods Bel and Marduk will be utterly disgraced.” They will be attacked from the north and no one will ever live in Babylon again.

After this, Jeremiah tells about the people of Israel and Judah returning to Jerusalem like sheep returning to the fold.

Tomorrow, we’ll be reading Jeremiah 51 – 52

Sanford, Florida

Today, I’ll be picking up my friend Vivienne and we’ll be heading to Sanford to pick up her son Bryce and his family and taking them back to Largo, where they will hopefully join us in not enjoying Hurricane Isaac.

Until next time…
