Courageous

Today, I saw the movie Courageous. It was an excellent movie, perhaps the best movie I have seen all year. But, if you go see it, be sure to take a box of tissues or a handkerchief. It was uplifting and inspiring.

Glenn Beck’s TV show this evening was very interesting. He has been talking for a long time about a coming economic or political crisis. Tonight he talked about steps we as individuals could and should take to prepare for such an event.

Briefly, the first 10 points are:

  1. Store gold and or silver, food, cigarettes, liquor, sugar guns, ammo and seeds (items you can use as currency when the dollar has no value).
  2. Develop skills you can trade and make alliances with like-minded people
  3. Keep 30 days of cash on hand.
  4. Knowledge – learn things that will help make you self-sufficient
  5. Buy a house, preferably with or near farmland and water
  6. Stop ALL excess spending
  7. Buy quality goods – with durability and able to be fixed (over fad and fashion)
  8. Measure twice; cut once – don’t waste
  9. Have a fuel efficient vehicle
  10. Have a truck or SUV

Interesting stuff, huh? I’ve already been working on a lot of this stuff and other items he discussed on the show. I know a lot of people think Glenn is a kook and make fun of him. Not being prepared is foolish. Who knows when someone or something might take out the power grid or something else that could affect our distribution system. Do you know that grocery stores typically have only TWO days of food on their shelves?

Until next time…
