Veterans’ Day and Lunch with Esther

I hope everyone gets a chance to watch the moving and inspiring video found at:

We should all try to remember that freedom is not free and we have all enjoyed ours because of the sacrifice of those brave men and women who have fought in our place.

I got a lot of packing done today, including two boxes of books I took over to Esther when I met her for lunch. She is going to look through them to see if there is anything she would like to read and then give them to her church’s library.

She had a busy day, taking her son (my nephew) Steven to the airport so he could catch a plane to CUBA – yep, he’s going to Guantanamo with his band (Rubix Cubed). You can check out the band at:

This is the second year in a row the band has been privileged to go to Gitmo. The band is terrific. If you ever get a chance, go see them You won’t regret it.

After Esther dropped Steven at the airport, she went up to the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell for the ceremony there. Her husband David and our sister-in-law Fumiko (Jay’s wife) are both interred there.

We had a great lunch at Mimi’s Cafe. I had the Strawberry Walnut salad and Esther had the Quiche Lorraine. Not to put down Mim'i’s, although the salad was great, I think the Strawberry Walnut salad at Olde Town Pizzeria is better. Of course, I’ll have to go back there to verify that. :)

I’m currently reading Revelation Unveiled by Tim LaHaye, one of the authors of the Left Behind series. It’s a commentary on the book of Revelation. It really spells out what it means, but requires a lot more concentration.

Tomorrow, it’s the chiropractor and then more packing.

Until next time…
